One of gaming’s biggest attractions Play Station It has a trophy system, which has little emotion that outweighs the hard-earned platinum. For most, Platinum is enough of a reward on its own, but a PlayStation fan takes it a step further, creating beautiful custom cards that embody sacred trophies.
Just as Xbox achievements generally increase in Gamerscore as tasks become more challenging, on PlayStation it is usually the trophy type that increases with difficulty. Bronze, silver and gold comprise the basic trophies, with the tendency for the Games to be loaded with bronze, a handful of silvers and just two or three golds. When all these trophies are earned, players are rewarded with the coveted Platinum Trophy, which symbolizes their work in completing all the challenges of the game. Obviously, however, games vary in difficulty, and as such, some Platinums are much easier to obtain than others.
Reddit user rodders1013 recently shared their impressive collection of handmade Platinum Trophy cards, earning a new one whenever they want. “How do you all show off your platinum?” Rodgers1013 asks in the title of his post on r/trophy, the official subreddit for trophy enthusiasts, to discuss this aspect of the PlayStation. The post includes several images of his creations, starting with a 3×3 gallery of platinum cards, which includes its name, icon, earned date, rarity percentage, and game art. A common trend by users on the Trophies subreddit is to share their platinum mosaics, becoming more and more influential as their numbers grow. While the Rodgers1013 could possibly do that and still share an impressive collection, those physical cards are just as important a part of the Platinum process, it’s something only they have. “Some sports are like 100 hours of my life! I want to celebrate what I enjoy,” he writes in one reply, “and it’s certainly doing that.”
If Play Station Anytime we’ve created a program for people to physically share their Platinum, it should reach out to Rodgers1013 because they’re onto something.
