Hunting for Black Friday PC gaming deals can be stressful, so stop what you’re doing, take a deep breath, and share a laugh with me over the most awesome gaming keyboards I have. sometimes saw. I don’t want you to buy this keyboard. In fact, if you insist on looking at its specifications, I want you to do it in an incognito Chrome tab so that Amazon doesn’t recommend products to you even remotely. You shouldn’t buy this keyboard, no matter how good it sounds for $50 for a mechanical keyboard and mouse combo. I can’t be left to watch it alone though.

It’s not uncommon to see gaming keyboards or mice for cheap from manufacturers we’ve never heard of. Generally though, these diminutive budget products are intended to be vague. They look similar to a Razer or Logitech keyboard, with their RGB lights sufficiently gamer-y, that your parents or partners might be tempted to snag you for that tempting $50 price tag.

But not this keyboard.

Oh no, this thing wants to look different. It’s so horribly ugly and over-engineered that it’s just begging me to check it out. This Wants to be exposed. It had the entire PC Gamer team asking questions we’re not sure we wanted to know the answers to:

  • Why is the wrist rest asymmetrical?
  • Is it because your right hand should always be at rest, never at rest?
  • What’s up with that circular bit of mouse under your palm?
  • Why does the Key font look like a 90s FPS interface?
  • Is it seriously connected to that little USB receiver?
  • Who was it that sought to make it act as a desk organizer as well?

It also comes in white! What a wonderful monstrosity of gaming gear design. I’m not the only PC gamer writer tempted to buy this as a novelty. Don’t do that though! We wish you the best.

For most games and gamers, the DeathAdder Essentials is a great mouse. The design is simple, with two perfectly placed, generously sized thumb buttons. It also has an excellent optical sensor that will work on both hard and cloth pads, and the ultimate body shape for claw or hybrid claw/palm grips.

jokes aside, it $50 LexonElec Keyboard This is one of those Black Friday deals to be wary of. Don’t be tempted by a keyboard that’s cheap now and may need replacing in less than a year.

It would be easy to risk this when Amazon customer reviews average 4.2 stars. Down in the written reviews, though, you’ll find the gem two days after “How much I love it… it died.” Another customer threw them away after six months when the keyboard stopped recording keystrokes consistently, a common complaint among other lesser reviews.

“I actually came in, slamming this keyboard against a tree like a baseball bat,” says another.

As we’re headed to this week and continue until the big weekend, not all that shines – or shines in this case – is gold.
