Sony almost a year after its state-of-the-art launch PS5 console, chances are you’re probably still religiously checking twitter, desperately trying to find one that isn’t part of a sure-I-pay-$500-plus bundle. (or a xbox series x. No judgment.) It’s never too early to start thinking about the next console, although you may not be able to get one; After all, if there’s something good or better on the horizon, why not give your Twitter a break? Thus arise nascent rumors about a new PS5 Pro. At the moment, the only tip-based leak comes from the iconic Moore’s law is dead (MLID), which claims that Sony is working on a new, higher-spec model of the PS5.

The rest is pure speculation that places its possible arrival within a year of the end of 2023 at a price of $600-$700 and includes the upcoming 6nm Zen 3 or Zen 4 AMD Silicon To play 8K gameplay. However, the most likely next PS5 is the model with VR (Commonly called “PSVR 2”) for 2022, for which Sony has already previewed the new hardware. Although it will differ from its PS4 strategy, there’s no reason Sony shouldn’t consider it a “Pro” model and push internal hardware upgrades to the PS6.

As almost everyone has pointed out, no one is fighting for 8K. But using upgraded hardware to run frame rates over 120fps in 4K – or frankly, even Beat 120fps in 4K, it seems a struggle to achieve and only a handful of people can really do that – Less glamorous but means a lot.

And it’s very unlikely, but I’d really welcome a cheaper “PS5 slim” along the lines of xbox seriesTargeted at newbies and more price-sensitive gamers.

When will the PS5 Pro ship and how much will it cost?

The name “PS5 Pro” comes from the convention Sony uses for its upgraded PS4 console, the PS4 Pro, and there seems to be a general consensus about this. MLID estimates the time to be 2023-2024 based on Sony’s release of the PS4 Pro, three years after the PS4 Pro.

The $600-$700 price tag is based on assumptions about the typical $100 or so price difference across all models. But given how little we know about what will happen inside, and not knowing when the current upward pressure on prices due to shortages will end, it is also nearly impossible to predict. So $600 is as good a guess as it gets for a slightly higher end model.

What will be the specs of PS5 Pro?

No clue, though I wouldn’t be surprised if it was extended a Future Generation of AMD’s Processors; Given the estimated time frame, a Zen 4 architecture CPU and RDNA3-architecture GPU would make sense.
