Reddit updates its live audio product Reddit Talk with sound card and new discovery features

Reddit Talk, social network club house social Audio Product, rolls out several updates to make hosts better interact with listeners. These include a new soundbar for sound effects and a theme selector that allows presenters to select up to three themes for their performances. In addition, hosts are testing a way to launch live shows directly from their profile. The company also announced their Reddit Talk. host program, which helps new hosts find their audio shows, will begin on July 11th.

A series of updates aims to further increase engagement and compete with rival Clubhouse, which currently has over ten million users and was rated last year at $4 billion. Meanwhile, Reddit was last ranked at 10 billion dollarsbut Reddit Talk is a year behind its social network audio twin.

However, such audio programs may make more sense on the web, where users have already created communities, rather than in a standalone audio application. This FebruaryReddit stated that Reddit Talk’s active listeners increased by more than 250% in three months, but did not say how many users streamed its show. Since its debut Last April, Reddit Talk was used by more than 500 moderators and hosts in various Reddit communities (so-called subreddits).

Reddit reports that the soundbar feature will be coming next month to make the experience richer and add an extra punch to conversations, TechCrunch reported. Deca might also be interesting for gaming – Reddit Jeopardy, anyone?

This feature will be available on the desktop and will have a music track as well as eight trigger sounds: air horn, tada, drumroll, sad trombone, clapping, boeing, cha-ching and ba-dum-shh. The soundbar is host-only, so trolls won’t virtually honk for attention.

The Reddit Talk theme selector will also slowly roll out this month. This new update allows listeners to find relevant live performances that might interest them. The live panel on the home feed will now offer performances from related communities that they follow. In addition, presenters will be able to reach more listeners as the update allows them to choose up to three topics for their presentations.

Reddit said it is experimenting with giving select users access to live talks directly from their profiles. Currently, Reddit moderators can automatically start live shows, or you must apply to be selected as a host. Reddit provides this new opportunity to those who have participated in Reddit Talk and have a good reputation among users. To be selected for testing a hosting profile, a user must register and view their profile.

The company also announced that its Reddit Talk Host program will now begin on July 11th and end on October 11th. last monththe start date was to be June 15th and the program was to end September 15th. Reddit didn’t explain why it was moved.

The Host program primarily helps Reddit talk show creators find their shows. Presenters’ performances get to the top of Reddit so that a more relevant audience can find and listen. To qualify, the organizers will need to host a minimum of four performances every 30 days (12 performances in total) between July 15 and September 15. Those who were not invited may register until July 1 to participate.

Other rewards for the program include things like an exclusive Reddit Talk hoodie, microphones, and even a Reddit Talk trophy for showing off. Digital rewards include invitations to a private server with fellow Reddit Talk hosts and team admins.

Reddit Talk was first tested in April 2021and have since received updates such as the live audio feature for the web, recordings of past sessions, comments and emoticons, and a live TV bar at the top of the home feed to display live chats.
