Redfall is the upcoming co-op game from Arkane, an open-world shooter set in an island town whose founders probably doomed it to Vampire Invasion, the other decided to name it ‘Redfall’. The reveal trailer focuses on the characters having fun, but a Leaked claim to come from a playtest Screenshots and hints about the gameplay are included.

Photos of loadout screens and a test area with a “loot zoo” certainly make Redfall look like a robber-shooter. It looks like the gear is split into five levels of rarity, high-end weapons are level-gated, and there’s an item shop. Guns have a scrap value, however whether scrap is a currency you can spend in the item shop or if there is a crafting system in place remains to be seen. The leaker suggests that “the gameplay style/loop is very similar to Borderlands”.

Weapons shown include a triple-barrel stake launcher from the trailer and a beam rifle that shoots UV rays, as well as regular handguns and assault rifles. “One character had a bird that acted as a sort of drone, and another could cloak for added stealth”, while a third teleports with a Dishonored-esque blink. The leak claims there are six playable characters, though we’ve only seen four so far.

For the open-world element, the hero selection screen lets you choose between two districts, and a shoreline with a lighthouse and beach ships appears in some screens. The leaker says it’s a secluded world, “similar to the realm of Fallout 76 or Ghost of Tsushima” with side missions and boss fights, which are again compared to Borderlands. Something else Redfall claims with Gearbox’s looter-shooter is that NPCs don’t fill up if you play alone.

One of the screenshots has been interpreted as showing that Redfall can be played in third person, despite bethesda site And this official redfall twitter This is called FPS. The screenshot shows a character from behind, but their location in the middle of the screen and the lack of targeting reticle make it seem like a probe mode to check your cosmetics and maybe make a sense. Or maybe it’s just someone standing in front of the camera. I’d be happy with the third-person option, but given that every arcane release so far has been exclusively first-person, except for a mobile strategy game called Karmastar, I’m not holding out.

All of this information is of course to be taken with a general grain of salt, and even if it is accurate it is only accurate for a playtest version of Redfall that may already have changed, and for sure It will reportedly be further tweaked before its release in the summer of 2022. .
