The Nickelodeon All-Star brawl is shaping up to be an interesting platform fighter, especially if you were a ’90s kid. Characters from Spongebob Squarepants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Rugrats will beat each other living crap in Nick-themed arenas. Now another iconic pairing has been confirmed: Ren and Stimpy.
This cat and dog pairing probably needs no introduction, but if they do, Ren & Stimpy was probably the biggest and weirdest cartoon ever to air on commercial TV in the ’90s. I don’t remember much about it, apart from the really macro close-up images of body parts and fluids. weird show. Maybe brilliant—I was too sook.
Needless to say, it has a huge cult following, so it’s important news that these quirky beasts are joining the All-Star Brawl roster. They will join an ever-growing roster that includes characters from the aforementioned series as well as Catdog, Hey Arnold, The Loud House, Real Monsters, Invader Zim, and Wild Thornberry. Leaks suggested that Aang and Korra from Avatar: The Last Airbender would also be announced at some point.
The Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl release date hasn’t been officially announced outside of the vague ‘Fall 2021’ window, but a recent Nintendo eShop leak suggests it will launch on October 5. and yes, It’s definitely coming to PC.
