Respawn pushes new patch for Apex Legends’ recent lag issues

it’s been a tough week Apex Legends players. The Battle Royale Shooter Has Seen Something Wider server instability Since September 14th, due to a lot of lag, packet loss, and so on. Thankfully, Respawn just shipped a patch it says will “meaningfully address” the issue.

“We’ve shipped a patch for @playapex This should meaningfully address teleporting, packet loss and lag,” official Respawn Twitter said on Monday. “In addition, we have discovered an issue with animated banner poses that can cause crashes. We recommend ignoring these poses for now. A fix for this and more is scheduled for Wednesday.”

Respawn said it continues to work on issues that are more frequent than normal crashes, and hopes Wednesday’s patch will help.

Respawn’s director of communications, Ryan K. Rigne shared some data from the studio’s software engineering team showing how much impact the patch had on packet loss. This is definitely a good looking bottom line.

When Apex Legends’ server instability peaked last week, it was “about three times the normal rate of disconnect errors,” Respawn said at the time. As of now, Respawn is on track to deliver on its promise to fix the issues for a “complete return to normalcy” by September 22.

Of course, competing Apex players in Ranking Mode were quite concerned about the effect of faulty servers on their rankings. Although disconnecting may cost you a few points, Respawn is at least extending the current ranked division by a week.
