FASTVPS review

Lightning Fast VPS Solutions at Cheap Prices

FASTVPS is one of the largest web hosting providers in the largest country in the world, so it should be counted for something. Its success journey began in 2006, aiming to provide “services of impeccable quality” at an affordable cost with a focus on specific types of hosting (you guessed it), Virtual Private Servers (VPS). In addition to VPS, they also provide dedicated servers as well as backup storage solutions, SSL certificates, domain registration services, and fastpanel monitoring.

The head office of FASTVPS is located in Russia (in the city of St. Petersburg), but they have also established offices in Ukraine (Vinnitsia) and Estonia (Zohvi). With the motto “By making our customers successful, we will make ourselves successful too”, FASTVPS currently brings together over 30 different types of experts who manage and maintain over 212,000 websites across Europe and the United States. We do. Their A-list of clients includes DHL, Mail.ru Group, MTS Bank, Payoneer and LetyShops.

It is also noteworthy that some of the leisure hours of FASTVPS are spent on practical philanthropy, where they provide constant support to the charitable foundation of St. Petersburg under the name of Solntse, which fights poverty and helps children in need.

The official site of FASTVPS is easy to use and available in Russian, Ukrainian, Estonian and English language. However, there is no official blog nor do they try to maintain an active presence on the social media platform.

FASTVPS offers a wide variety of different VPS plans to choose from as its name suggests

Plans & Pricing

As the company name suggests, FASTVPS focuses its attention on VPS (there are several plans each based on OpenVZ, KVM, and Hyper-V technologies), although they also offer some attractive physical dedicated server solutions. All prices are generally pocket-friendly with VPS/VDS packages starting at just $2 with a minimum payout period of three months, which pushes the total cost up to $6. However, there is a catch.

The low-cost VPS plans don’t include domain name registration nor SSL certificates, so expect your wallet to be a bit more lightweight. At a minimum you’ll get an Intel Xeon processor with 1 vCPU core, 5GB of disk space (SAS), and 1GB of ECC memory. Furthermore, all VPS plans come with 24/7 support, automatic backup, and a fastpanel control panel.

Depending on a physical location and technical specification, a dedicated server can cost you almost anything from $60 to $600 per month and the setup fee is for the most part (but not always) included in the price.

Be aware, FASTVPS does not offer any free trial or money-back guarantee, however, with VPS packages you can cancel at any time and request a refund based on your unused resources. However, keep in mind that refunds are made only for entire unused months of main service.

As for payment methods, FASTVPS accepts payment via all major credit cards, direct deposit (Sberbank only), PayPal, WebMoney, YooMoney, 2CheckOut and QIWI.

ease of use

As you have probably noticed by now, FASTVPS is not exactly novice-friendly, as it does not offer shared hosting, managed WordPress packages, in-depth how-tos, free domain registration, free SSL, one-click install, website Manufacturer, free trial or money-back guarantee. While some of their features may fit into the novice-friendly category, we’ll return to this a little later.

Signing up with FASTVPS is as easy as falling through a log. The only information you need to provide is your email address and country of residence. You should also go through the terms and conditions before submitting your data and proceeding further.

You can manage your services, tickets etc from the dashboard of FASTVPS

Thereafter, and without any delay, you will be transferred to the colourful, simple and easy-to-use dashboard of FASTVPS. From there you can modify your account, change passwords (you’ll get a random one generated via e-mail), add SSH keys, register a domain, purchase FASTVPS hosting services, and more. To do this, you’ll need to provide additional information about yourself, but nothing that you wouldn’t normally expect.

The billing cycle for domain registrations can go from one to ten years, for VPS packages it can be every three months, six months, a year or two years, and with dedicated server solutions for all of you plus one month You can choose to pay. Which applies to VPS users. Here, you can decide which operating system to use, whether to add FastCare monitoring, additional backup server space, or an IP address. Overall, the process is pretty straightforward and your server should be up for action in a few hours after making a purchase.

This is the custom control panel of FASTVPS FASTPANEL

We should also note that FASTVPS does not offer its users the popular control panels such as cPanel, hPanel or ISPmanager, but rather offers its own custom-built FASTPANEL, which is very easy to use and if you choose from us It’s a little too simple if you ask. . Nonetheless, this is one of the rare novice-friendly features provided by FASTVPS. Another is daily automatic backups of all its servers, which all users can easily restore from their control panel.

We used GTmetrix to measure the uptime and response time of the main FASTVPS website

speed and experience

The official site of FASTVPS performed surprisingly well in our GTmetrix speed test. It took about four seconds to fully load and average less than 70 requests in total. At the same time, all other important web metrics (like largest Contentful Paint, total blocking time and cumulative layout shift) were ahead of the game, resulting in an A (90%), which is something we don’t see often enough.

Regarding uptime, FASTVPS is surprisingly confidential. It was only after searching their knowledgebase (article by article) that we found a 99% uptime guarantee for all their virtual servers, which is really nothing to write home about. Despite this, after monitoring the uptime of the FASTVPS official site for a full month (via UptimeRobot), we did not record any downtime at all. There was only one major spike in response times, but since the average time was less than a second (773ms, to be precise), it’s unlikely this would present a problem.

FASTVPS provides 24/7 support 365 days a year and the company can be contacted by telephone or email

help

The support staff of FASTVPS are at your disposal 24/7 and the sales department can be contacted via telephone or email from 8:00 AM to 0:00 AM. This time is adjusted to the time zone of the country whose employees you wish to contact, and have telephone numbers for four countries at hand: the United States, Ukraine, Estonia, and Latvia.

You may find some answers in FASTVPS’s knowledgebase but you’ll need to brush up on your dandruff first

You can use live chat, support tickets, e-mail or telephone to contact the technical team, and the average response time varies between 20 and 25 minutes. If you want to find the solution on your own, there is a concise FAQ section and an extensive knowledgebase. However, it’s only available in Russian, so if you’re not familiar with the language, you’ll have to translate the relevant sections yourself or opt for a different type of support.

The page itself suggests that you should write to the FASTVPS support staff in case of any unanswered questions, and that answers given in a language you do not know (we think) may be considered unanswered.

A good alternative to FASTVPS is Timeweb, a partner host based in Russia with attractive hosting packages at an equally attractive price. However, while FASTVPS is somewhat oriented towards skilled users, Timeweb offers something for the fraudsters as well. With a number of shared hosting solutions, a 10-day free trial, and its own website builder, Timeweb is definitely a better option for less tech-savvy users.

Another Russian alternative to FASTVPS could be Beget, a good and cheap option for those who are ready to sacrifice aesthetics for a powerful display. Like Timeweb, Beget is not specifically geared for the international market, but unlike Timeweb (and like FASTVPS), it offers an English version of their official site. What’s more, Beget offers a 30-day free trial with its plans, which is not the case with the other two hosts.

However, if you are not looking for a strictly Russian-based provider, one of the most popular options from the USA is HostGator. It offers a full range of feature-rich hosting options and all for a pocket-friendly price. Although the price increases after a period of three years, free domain registration, SSL certificates and a website builder can certainly make up for the difference.

Both FASTVPS and Bluehost offer competitive pricing and 24/7 customer support. The main difference between them (besides location) is that FASTVPS focuses almost entirely on VPS/VDS solutions, whereas Bluehost has something for everyone and more than a few great features to boot.

final call

FASTVPS is one of the major players in the Russian web hosting industry and its customer base is growing in Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia and Europe in general. So, if you are looking for a European host with robust and reliable VPS and dedicated server solutions at an affordable price, you can’t go wrong with FASTVPS. Yes, they have data centers in the United States as well, but they also have some solid competitors there, with HostGator, GoDaddy, and Bluehost being some of them.
