When all the punching, kicking and family drama is over, is the post-credits scene? Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Undoubted! In fact, this latest Marvel Cinematic Universe entry includes two post-credits scenes that tease the next adventure and welcome the MCU’s newest heroes to the world of the Avengers.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is now streaming on Disney Plus. “From the opening fight to the inevitable post-credits scene,” Nerdshala review says, “Shang-chi comes with wondrous strengths and weaknesses while also feeling like something new.”

So what about those post-credits scenes? Stand for spoilers… After saving the world at the end of the film, Shang-Chi is introduced to some familiar faces, with Avengers stars popping up for cameos (suited for 2021, in this meeting) A sort of superhero zoom call is involved). Then at the end of the credits, another scene introduces a new boss to the film’s troubled ninja army.

The mid-credits scene basically continues end of movie, when Shang-Chi and Katie follow Wong into a portal. The action begins with Wong studying the rings, noting that the powerful objects are nothing like any artifacts recorded in the codex.

Mandatory credit cameos from Brie Larson and Mark Ruffalo as Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner. Banner’s hand is in the sling, so if that’s the injury that’s caused by wearing power gauntlet In Endgame, then we can date Shang-Chi as being set for that film relatively soon. They may be the two biggest minds in the Avengers, but both are dazzled by the rings. They can at least deduce that the mysterious metal hoops are thousands of years older than anyone realizes.

In the comics, the origin story of the Rings is that they contain the spirits of alien warriors from the planet Maklu, home to dragon-like creatures, including the popular comics character Fin Fang Phum. In the film, our heroes learn that Shang-Chi’s use of rings sent some kind of signal. A ray is shining in the universe — but who will answer?

Marvel then gets down to some interplanetary business, leaving Banner and Wong to officially join Shang-Chi and Katie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “There’s a long journey ahead of you,” warns Wong, or as the banner puts it, “Welcome to the Circus.” All that’s left after that is to seal the deal with a venue for karaoke—and Wong enthusiastically attends a round of Hotel California by the Eagles.

The second scene comes after the credits. This time it is Xialing, played by Menger Zhang, who takes center stage. When she removes the posters that covered her childhood bedroom, we join in, sweeping away the childish things. She is about to reconcile her father’s terroristic affairs, but instead takes his throne and begins a new era for the Ten Rings organization. An era of graffiti and hip-hop joins his old fight club sidekick and a new army of martial arts apprentices with Razor Fist.

“Let’s begin,” Xialing says ominously. “We have a lot of work to do.”

The film ends with the caption: “The Ten Rings will be back.” But now that they are under new management, will they be friends or foes to Shang-Chi and the Avengers?
