Sheryl Sandberg, COO of parent company Facebook Meta, plans to retire after 14 years on the job.
AT The statement was posted on Facebook on Wednesday.Sandberg said she will continue to serve on the Meta board and focus on her foundation and philanthropic work.
Sandberg said she will officially leave the company this fall.
“I am immensely proud of everything this team has achieved,” Sandberg said. “Companies we’ve helped and businesses we’ve built. The culture we have grown together.”
Javier Olivan, Meta’s chief operating officer, will become COO following Sandberg’s departure, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a separate Facebook post.
“She has created opportunities for millions of people around the world and she deserves credit for so much of what the Meta is today.” Zuckerberg said.
