The Skyrim board game has passed the million-dollar mark in its crowdfunding campaign within 10 days, despite a target of only $135,000.
According to a press release from developer Modifius, it was hit exactly 30 minutes after the original target project. gamefound page went live. Now sitting at over 80% off targets, the Skyrim board game has unlocked a collection of stretch goals for backers that include additional miniatures, alternate hero sculptures, new mini-quests and Legendary encounters for suitably large rewards. Together they face tough challenges.
Because the GameFound campaign is still active as of December 5, Modipheus says the next stretch targets “massive free-roaming co-op and competitive game modes” that will appear in all copies of the base Skyrim board game. In addition to adding “more hours of fun in the woods”, it is also intended to emulate the easy-going free-roaming nature players are getting re-acquainted with in Skyrim Anniversary Edition.
Officially called ‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – The Adventure Game’, the plot takes place several years before Dragonborn arrived on the scene. Casting players as surviving members of Blade (an organization dedicated to protecting the Emperor), they must foil a plot to eradicate them. Given that Modipheus promises that there are consequences for success or failure that will “directly affect the outcome of the story”, this version of Skyrim looks like it will become a contender for Best Board Game for Role-playing (in its own right). See back, Gloomhaven).
