Spider-Man: Miles Morales director says that Into the Spider-Verse was a huge inspiration

Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ creative director has said that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse “inspired us a lot.”

When discussing the location for Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horton talks about how important it was for the team to accurately represent Miles’s neighborhood. “When we put up our demo, where we see Miles walking through his neighborhood, and Puerto Rico is represented on the streets,” explains Horton, “it was a team coming up with this specific goal to make sure it all . The world Miles Morales was living in felt real.”

This sentiment was echoed by senior animator at the game James Hamm who explains that Insomniac’s team did a lot of research while developing the game. Even for small details such as serving Puerto Rican cuisine during the ganque and fin dinner scene, Haim explains: “To feel like you’ve been there before, you go through the game. Can smell food – I know they did so much research on fixing that stuff.”
