In build on the 10th anniversary of the Star Wars: The Old Republic and Legacy of the Sith expansion, one of the elements of the add-on is being tested on a public test server. Combat styles are being added to Legacy of the Sith, as well as a new story, which will let players choose from different classes of abilities.

Previously, you could choose one of two advanced classes at level 10 – for example, an Imperial Agent could choose from Sniper or Operative. In the new system, characters will have a level one to one combat style, to be chosen from a very wide variety. That Imperial Agent will not be able to choose a Force-based combat style, but will be able to choose from any of the Technique-based Blaster styles: Vanguard, Commando, Powertech, Mercenary, Rogue, or Gunfighter, as well as Sniper and Active Force-wilders’ choice will be limited by their faction, but they can eventually unlock a variety of powers with enough Light or Dark Side Points.

The Old Republic’s public test server is currently testing the PowerTech, Mercenary, Juggler, and Marauder fighting styles. They too have been rejected. “to make these classes feel less cumbersome and customization more concise,” says blog post“We are working to reduce the amount of qualifications but ensuring that these classes remain distinctive and unique.”

More updates will be coming to the public test servers in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Fraser Brown wants a full-blown sequel, announcing that I don’t want Knights of the Old Republic 3, I want Star Wars: The Old Republic 2.
