After delays earlier this year, Swee’s The Good Life finally has a release date. The new trailer above breaks the news, and shows off all the dog-pee and cat-scratch antics, when The Good Life releases on October 15.
From Deadly Premonition and D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die, The Good Life director Swery’s peculiar mind appears to be a more colorful and light-hearted adventure through the English countryside. You play as New York City photographer Naomi Hayward, who moves to the sleepy village of Renee Woods. A mysterious client has asked you to investigate some nefarious incidents, and since you are in huge debt, you have nowhere to turn them down. When you find a dead body in the river with a sword stuck in its stomach, things quickly turn bad.
Then there’s the whole thing about Renee Woods’ citizens turning into cats or dogs during the night. It’s a Swery game, all of you. Naomi will eventually get a chance to bark or meow through Renee Woods, urinating on sidewalks and hunting rats. The new trailer also shows a glimpse of some quirky characters, including a Sherlock Holmes-type companion, a hippie woman named the Woodland Witch, and sheep-faced aristocrats.
The Good Life has some big hot fuzz vibes, with Naomi working to uncover the secrets of this eerily idyllic village. It will be out in October on Steam, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
