Apple may have accidentally confirmed the existence of an M1X MacBook Pro

And it could have been launched at WWDC, after all

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference keynote has come and gone this year without a new MacBook Pro – but it looks like that wasn’t the original intention! Interestingly, Apple quietly included the phrases “M1X MacBook Pro” and “M1X” as tags on your youtube video Live Keynote Viewed by Max Balzer (Via Nerdshala)

Not only does this sound like at least a tacit confirmation of a new Arm-powered MacBook Pro, it also confirms rumors that it will include a new M1 chip, and that Apple is rolling it out as an upgraded “X” version. instead of going straight to the M2 like it did with its high-end iPads.

Three weeks ago, bloombergK Mark Gurman told that we’ll see redesigned 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros “early this summer,” bringing back an SD card slot, HDMI port, and some form of the beloved trip-friendly MagSafe charging connector; offer twice the high-performance CPU and GPU cores; And supports up to 64GB of RAM. I really thought announcing them at WWDC would be the perfect way to deflect attention from the recent developer turmoil – you know, by announcing a MacBook Pro that’s really just for pros?

Maybe that was the original idea, but we got an absolutely jam-packed keynote full of rapid-fire software announcements instead. Check out our supercut below for the condensed video version, or read our list of the 15 biggest announcements of WWDC 2021 if you just want the highlights.
