Unfortunately, we don’t have more specifics yet, though it’s possible that Ubisoft will reveal more details in the coming months.
However, one thing to note is that we already know that the sequel of the upcoming Avatar movie is going to arrive around December 2022. So, if the game developers are in agreement with the makers, we’re not going over a possible joint release during the holiday. 2022. After all, the game was already done Postponed Due to the delay of Avatar 2, so we are guessing that both the releases may not be too far from each other.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Trailer
The 3-minute-long trailer showed a lot, including the stunning sights of Pandora, mysterious creatures some of which haven’t been seen in James Cameron’s 2009 film. It also featured a fight between the native Na’vis and the human-led Resource Development Administration, also known as the RDA.
For those unfamiliar with the world of Avatar, the Navi are a race of supernatural tall humanoids who live in the forests of Pandora, whose peace is then disturbed by the RDA, leading to the main conflict in the original film.
Similar to the movie, it looks like the upcoming game will also include other native creatures such as direhorses, horse-like creatures used by the Navi as mounts for travel and combat purposes.
We have also seen mountain banshees, large, dragon-like aerial creatures that are often mounted by boat to cover great distances as well as to hunt in the air.
All the creatures used as mounts are connected to Na’vi through a special native bond called Tshelu. It is when two Pandorian creatures attach their tail-like “queues” that gives them the ability to form “neural connections”.
But, as we mentioned earlier, the game trailer also hints at the inclusion of a new variety of previously-unseen creatures that we expect will be able to interact with the game throughout.
Avatar: Pandora’s Frontiers Expected Gameplay
Not much is known about the gameplay, as the trailer did not include in-game footage. However, we did get a hint or two about what gamers can potentially expect.
At the beginning of the trailer, we are given a first-person view of the jungle surroundings. At about 21 seconds in, the trailer shifts the perspective of a certain Navi character meeting another blue humanoid.
This leads us to believe that the game could potentially see some first-person action, which would be even more interesting if it could be played from both the Na’vi and RDA sides. And a lobby where a user can customize their character certainly wouldn’t hurt.
As far as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is an open-world adventure, the reveal remains to be seen despite all the beautiful environments shown in the trailer. Clearly, Ubisoft isn’t quite new to making games with a strong atmospheric feel, having previously released big titles like Far Cry and the Assassin’s Creed series. Regardless, expectations are high from the upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora game.
Avatar: Pandora’s Limits
Nobody really asked for an Avatar game, especially since it’s been years since the film came out. But such a game is coming.
And if Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora can make an alien world feel alive, and… really alien, there may be something special to explore. It’s also not sad that Aya can also look amazing. It’s a while before we see some proper game footage, but Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier may be a game worth some tentative interest.
