It caught the attention of people in Silicon Valley and beyond when it was launched last year. Now the audio based social network is opening its virtual doors to all.
On Wednesday Clubhouse said its app is now out of beta And people no longer need an invitation to join.
“It’s been a rollercoaster in the first half of the year, and we’ve grown much bigger than we were in January,” co-founders Paul Davison and Rohan Seth wrote in a blog post. “We’ve added 10 million people to the community when We launched Android in mid-May, and 90 million DMs have been sent since launching Backchannel last week.”
Clubhouse is an audio chat app with virtual rooms that people can enter to listen to or participate in a conversation on a specific topic. People can also create and join club Within Clubhouse, which the app describes as interest-based groups.
