Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 release date, price, specs and more

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 is Team Green’s top-end graphics card, but it’s too hard to buy

If you’re after some 4K high-end and high-performance gaming, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 is the graphics card you want. Not only does it offer a huge amount of performance, it also comes with Nvidia’s latest deep learning supersampling (DLSS 2.0) and ray tracing technology.

If you’re planning on building a high-end gaming PC then the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 is the card you want. However, it’s nearly impossible to find where to buy the Nvidia RTX 3080, as the graphics card is sold practically all over the world; You might get lucky with a few restox sometimes.

While we wait for the graphics card to become easier to find, here’s what you need to know about the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080.

nvidia rtx 3080 release date

After much teasing and a long wait, the Nvidia Grocer RTX 3080 was released on September 17, 2020. And it’s available now; This is when you can find a retailer with one in stock and don’t want to buy graphics cards from resellers at exorbitantly inflated prices.

Sadly, buying the GeForce RTX 3080 months after its release is no longer easy. That situation doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon, with raw material shortages in particular and the Chinese New Year being blamed for the ongoing Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 stock crisis.

nvidia rtx 3080 price

The price of Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 starts at $699. The higher-end RTX 3090 starts at $1,499, while the RTX 3070 costs $499.

The graphics card has officially gone on sale at most major retailers, although it is now mostly sold out. See below for latest availability.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 has 30 shader-teraflops (TFLOPS), 58 ray-tracing TFLops, and 239 Tensor-TFLOPS. You’ll also get 10GB of G6X graphics RAM, which Nvidia says is the fastest you’ll find in a GPU.

If all this sounds like another language to you, know that the RTX 3080 promises twice the performance than the RTX 2080. And if you’re upgrading from an older card like the RTX 980 Ti, you can look forward to performance gains up to five times what your current card is outputting. The RTX 3080 delivers continuous 4K gaming at 60 frames per second, similar to the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles.

The RTX 3080 has what Nvidia calls “the world’s fastest graphics memory” with GDDR6X VRAM, which can perform at 760 Gb/s. There’s also new dedicated ray-tracing hardware for even more immersive lighting and shadows in your favorite PC game.

The RTX 3080 also features a new thermal-optimized design that promises 55% more airflow, 30% more efficiency, and the ability to stay up to three times quieter during heating gaming sessions.

While the RTX 3080 has some exciting specs, the GeForce RTX 3090 is where things get really interesting. This $1,499 GPU promises to accomplish 8K gaming with smooth ray tracing, making it something that true enthusiasts with cash to burn will love it. It’s also physically spacious, and makes us wonder if it’ll fit most modern PC cases.

Nvidia RTX 3080 Display

Nvidia has claimed that the GeForce RTX 3080 is twice as fast as the GeForce RTX 2080 and how this will affect the RTX 2080 Ti. This is a bold claim indeed.

Nvidia pits the RTX 3080 against the RTX 2080 Ti when running Doom Eternal at 4K on Ultra settings. The RTX 3080 is about 50 percent faster than previous top-end Nvidia graphics cards, providing frame rates above 100 fps. And this is likely to happen before much optimization is done.

Our sibling publication Toms Hardware tested the GeForce RTX 3080 and declared it delivered a “generational leap in performance.” And true to its claims, the RTX 3080 offers significant performance gains over the RTX 2080 Ti.

“The bottom line, if you don’t mind spoilers, is that the RTX 3080 FE is on average 33% faster than the RTX 2080 Ti. Or, if you prefer the other points of comparison, it’s the RTX 2080.” 57% faster than the Super, 69% faster than the RTX 2080 FE – heck, it’s even 26% faster than the Titan RTX!” Jared Walton said in his review.

“But there’s a catch: We measured all those ‘percentage fast’ results in our test suite running at 4K Ultra settings. If you drop down to 1440p, and it drops even further at 1080p the lead drops It’s still 42% faster than the 2080 FE at 1080p Ultra, but it’s a card built for higher resolutions.”

Suffice to say, the GeForce RT 3080 is an impressive graphics card, though you’ll need an equally impressive overall PC to get the most out of it.
