Tony Stark ready to be a part of Marvel’s What If?
There’s still a lot we can do about Marvel’s upcoming animated series What If? Don’t know about, which is due to premiere in early August. But a leak from Lego of all places has confirmed that Iron Man still has a huge part to play in the post-Endgame MCU.
This leak comes from a Lego set listing that popped up Amazon France earlier this week. The set in question is ‘Tony Stark’s Sakarian Iron Man,’ which probably means we now know the setting for one of the 10 episodes of What If.

We already knew Tony Stark was going to pop up in What If? In some shape or form: He’s finally here in the trailer, lying inside the giant donut that appeared in Iron Man 2. But we didn’t know how big of a part Iron Man was going to play, and the Lego set seems to indicate that Marvel hasn’t finished telling stories with Tony Stark just yet.
What if Marvel? is an animated anthology series narrated by Yutu the Watcher as he takes viewers on alternate MCU stories; Expect stories like ‘What if Peggy Carter was a super soldier?’ and ‘What if T’Challa was Star Lord?’. Apparently one of the other stories would be ‘What if Tony Stark was in Thor: Ragnarok?’
That said, it raises many more questions for us. Of course Tony will use all of the dirt-scoring technology on the surface of the realm to create a suit of armor – one that looks remarkably similar to the Hulkbuster. The only question we have is, will he replace Thor, the Hulk or both?
My guess is that this story will take place in the immediate aftermath of The Avengers, given that the Tony minifigure is wearing the same Black Sabbath t-shirt he sports in that movie.
Jeff Goldblum Has Already Confirmed That He Is What If? will reprise his role as the Grandmaster of K., and has told BuzzFeed that he will return with Robert Downey Jr. This could answer one of the many things that Marvel is concerned about with What If. ?.
While several actors have already signed on to reprise their big screen roles, no announcement has been made about who will voice major characters like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. From what Goldblum said, it appears that, like Marvel, Robert Downey Jr. hasn’t worked with Tony Stark yet. Just don’t expect him to return to the big screen anytime soon, not after Stark’s sacrifice during the final battle of Endgame.
Taika Waititi has also been confirmed to return as the alien rock man Korg, while the Lego set reveals that Valkyrie will also play a part in the episode. Whether or not Tessa Thompson will be returning to The Voice hasn’t been announced, though we hope she’s set to reprise her role in Thor: Love and Thunder (due next year).
what if? It is currently set to debut on Disney Plus on August 6th, and the first season will consist of 10 episodes. In the meantime, Marvel fans will be able to get a fix very soon, with Loki arriving on June 9 and Black Widow coming to theaters and Disney Plus Premiere Access on July 9.
