Arrive early to get your ticket for any console
For the most part, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have been sold exclusively online since their late 2020 launch, but that’s changing — at least a little bit — since yesterday. Best Buy will stock the console (PS5 Disc Edition, PS5 Digital Edition, Xbox Series X) in several of its US stores, and getting one will be similar to the process the retailer uses to sell graphics cards individually. You’ll have to show up early and form a queue, then at 7:30 a.m. local time, Best Buy employees will hand out one ticket per customer for as many consoles as are in stock at each store.
Check out Best Buy’s list of participating retailers to see if you should consider lining up early. Once you’re in the queue, you’ll be able to tell the folks at Best Buy which console you’d like to buy, and you’ll get tickets for that specific console. Note that this is one ticket per subscriber, and you will only be able to exit with one console.
Even if it closes out more in-store opportunities to pick up the console or if it’s one of the few opportunities you’ll have this year, this may be your moment to finally get one.
