This cooler is a vibrant and much more radical LED version of the one we ran across the PC Gamer test bench. So while we can’t say how well it lights up the room, this cooler can certainly handle itself.

Corsair Hydro Series H100i Pro RGB 240mm

We’ve well and truly put the non-RGB version of this cooling system through its speed so you know it’s a reliable piece of kit. At $40 off, you get an excellent water cooler for mid- to high-end PCs that can fit an LGA 1700 unit. As an added bonus, it can be retrofitted to work with Elder Lake CPUs, so it’s worth a look if you’ve got a new build on your hands.

But perhaps most important this cooler is LGA 1700 compatible. It is compatible with a few other sockets right off the bat but it is always important to check if it is suitable for your use. Something you might not know is that these can be inexpensively retrofitted to fit Intel’s new wallet-friendly Elder Lake CPUs. A tried-and-true cooler is never a bad idea on a new CPU.

Elder Lake is proving to be a strong, yet occasional choice of CPUs. The Core i5 12600K and i9 12900K both reviewed really well when we tested them at launch. But there are some games in which they don’t play well without some improvements. Even the orientation of the cooler can have a big impact on the way these machines work, and they can make for a suspiciously good overclocking machine, so that’s all the more reason to look for something reliable.

If you’re looking for a new CPU to go with your cooler, we have a section for them that includes some of the Elder Lake chips on our list of CPU deals.
