The latest rumor that is spreading like wildfire in the gaming world is Quantic Dream, the developer behind it. Heavy rainhandjob Detroit: Be Human, and others, is making a star wars game. This rumor has really soured my morning.

For now, I want Quantic Dream to be as far away from a franchise that I, as well as millions of other fans, love. The company is currently in the middle of a defamation suit against which it has filed two french outlets To report that inappropriate behavior, sexism and homophobic jokes were common in its offices. If the rumors of its upcoming Star Wars project are true, it’s shocking that Disney will currently hand over some of its most beloved pop-culture icons (though Ubisoft, a company with its own controversies, is currently working on a Star Wars project as well. has been).

Instead, the privilege of working on a Star Wars game should go to studios that can handle the weight of the franchise and aren’t led by CEOs with a particularly bad reputation. I can even name a few developers off the top of my head who would be very suitable for a Star Wars IP.

I’m not sure there’s any developer who knows how to make a better believable world than Obsidian. It has a prestigious library of games, which includes fallout New Vegashandjob Outside worldhandjob Pillars of Eternity, and even a Star Wars game, knights of the old republic 2. The studio has proven time and again that even without giving enough time, it can take the source material and create completely unique worlds and storylines. In terms of writing, Obsidian is almost unique, and it’s one of the only developers out there that I trust with creating a proper Star Wars story.

A Destiny player strikes his opponent.

The developer behind Destiny isn’t new to handling large amounts of lore or mixing science fiction with magic. Since becoming independent, Bungie has cut its teeth with the franchise, creating a new mainstay in the games industry. The developer has proven that from his time with the Halo franchise until now largely used to working with games. And let’s be real for a second: Warlocks are basically compelling users already. Bungie is already halfway through creating the Star Wars story, requiring only the rights to it.

am i bringing the arcane because i’m currently addicted deathloop? Well, a little. but only because deathloop, as with the Dishonored franchise before it, shows that Arcane isn’t capable of creating stylized worlds for players to explore with cleverly thought-out powers. Despite being completely original, Arkane can do all that. The developer simply makes games that are like no other, and that bit of fresh blood is exactly what the next Star Wars game needs to bring. It can’t just put a lightsaber in the player’s hands and say, “Okay, you’re a Jedi now, have fun.” What’s next for the franchise is something different to do, and Arkane is everything different.

Miles Morales and Peter Parker stand together in Spider-Man 2.

I’m going to use a game journalist cliché here, so bear with me: The Insomniac player knows how to make perception Like an iconic character. The studio’s efficient handling of Spider-Man shows that, and whatever it does to Wolverine, it will undoubtedly do the same. While the next Star Wars game has to do with putting players in the shoes of the Jedi, there isn’t a single developer I trust more to do right. And while Insomniac may lack the writing chops of some of the other developers on this list, it more than makes up for it with eye-popping impressive visuals. It would be magical to see the studio’s interpretation of the Death Star or Tatooine’s dunes.
