The 2021 Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost Halloween event looks extra damned thanks to the unnecessary swan and penguin masks as well as a giant spidery sparrow.
The festival has just begun but the players of the Solar System are already in awe of this year’s cosmetics. The aptly named Honk Moon Mask, which appears to be a cute nod to the chaotic hit untitled Goose game, was one of the first horrors identified. Why does its head look like the moon? Why is its bill higher than a megaphone-like tunnel? And honestly, who assembled this thing with such visible scotch tape?
The penguin mask isn’t much friendlier. There’s just something about its minimalist design and adorable eyes that gives us the creeps. Put this thing in a dark room with some moonlight streaming in and you can see the face of hell itself. It’s oddly animatronic for a penguin made of cardboard, almost as if it were derived from a robotic hellscape of something like Atomic Heart.
Finally, we come to the granddaddy of all scary things: the big-grown spider, or in this case, the Skeeterscare sparrow. As if legs weren’t enough, even venom-tipped fangs, a strange belly atop the thruster, and it’s covered in hair like a real tarantula. By virtue of its three eyes, this sparrow was also partly modeled after the Hive, only for an extra dose of nightmare fuel. We’ve heard reports that the legs will move around when you ride this thing with the Booster, but we can’t quite get over it ourselves to confirm it. who will Ride The thing? If it were our sparrow, we would never get anywhere because we would rocket it every time we called.
