If visitors to rural northern Bosnia see a house whose facade looks different every time they pass by, they are not imagining things. Novel structure rotates full 360 degrees.

Vojin Kusic built the house near the town of Srbac for his wife, Ljubica, who desired different views without changing rooms. Now that’s all he gets. For example, she may sit in the same chair and look out over the front yard or backyard, depending on her mood. It’s a room with a view, and then some.

“The house can make a full circle for 24 hours at the slowest speed, while at the fastest spinning it can make a full circle in 22 seconds,” says Cusick, 72, told Reuters.

The self-taught inventor himself designed and built the bright green house with a red roof. He mounted it on a concrete base, and electric motors and wheels from an old military transport vehicle spin it on a 23-foot (7-m) axis. The front door also rotates. It took him six years to complete the project, progressing a bit day by day.

Cusick, who cites inventor Nikola Tesla as one of his inspirations, has built the first homes. When he and his wife first married, he made them a more exclusive residence, which still stands.

At the time, he told Reuters, Ljubicka wanted his bedroom to face the sun, but that meant his living room was off the street and he couldn’t see people near the front yard. So they did some major remodeling which included taking down the walls.

“I’m tired of his complaints and the constant renovation of our family home and I said: I’ll build a revolving house for you so you can move it around as you please,” Cusick said.

The unusual new home will undoubtedly attract many curious passersby. But if watching the crowd becomes too much for the family, it’s not a problem. All they have to do is move their house around for a quieter view.
