Twitter is deepening its investment in the clubhouse-like audio room space the social network launched this year.
Company a. announced the launch of New Creator Program for Spaces on Tuesday. The SPARK program is a three-month accelerator that aims to “discover and reward great spaces on Twitter with financial, technical and marketing support.” Twitter says the space it has set up for the program is open to audio shows and untested experiments, inviting creators interested in audio to apply.
Since launching Space, Twitter has indicated that its audio product is unlikely to be another test feature destined for early retirement. The company expanded the ticketed space last month, inviting hosts to monetize Audio Rooms by selling access to their hosted audio chats. This week, the company added a way for hosts to invite listeners via DM when firing up a space. This also Launched a dedicated Spaces tab for more iOS users, works in non-English languages and with plans to expand further to Android.

They will be compensated $2,500 per month – a flat rate not determined by the performance of the space – and provided monthly advertising credits to promote their shows. Anyone who signs into the program will have the added benefit of being promoted by Twitter’s accounts in the Tweet and Discovery features.
“We recognize the hard work that goes into creating audio content that is engaging, engaging, and keeps people coming back,” the company wrote in an announcement of the Spark program. “And above all, we believe in the power of people’s thoughts and the potential of live social audio, and we see an opportunity to help audio content creators – like you – move forward.”
Twitter users interested in creating a bi-weekly Twitter-supported audio project can apply with the company by October 22. Accepted applicants will be notified in early November.
