Summary: In any other timeline, Sonic’s first feature film would have been a total flop. Fortunately, the film’s director took the criticism in stride and announced three month delay to transform Sonic. The end result was a character that more closely resembled the Sega mascot from the Genesis era. This is worked at the cash registeras the film had the best domestic opening for a film based on a video game in three and four days.

Paramount and everyone involved with Ugly Sonic probably thought this was the last thing they heard about the bug, but Disney had other plans.

Ugly Sonic made a cameo in the recently released Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue, a live-action movie based on the Disney characters Chip and Dale. In the movie, Ugly Sonic signs autographs at a convention and even talks about a new reality show he’s been offered.
