Walhem has received a small material patch, as part of which it has also shared some glimpses of the next big expansion: the Mistlands. The update adds some new enemy types to the swamp area, allowing the hardy Vikings to craft a new item: This patch also adds a new armor type, called Maybe Item.

The image above is from another, as-yet-untitled, future update, which will add cavemen to the Mountain Biome, which will apparently have “lupine residents.” The Mistlands Update also has a glimpse below: “The landscape is starting to take shape and the haze itself has begun to roll in, but what’s hiding there is still unknown…”

Iron Gate Studios Has Been Busy Too Fan questions answered About the game, one of which was about the release date of the Mistlelands. “I know you are all very excited about Mistlands, and so are we,” the developer writes. “But we’re still too early in development to be able to know for sure when the biome will be released. Unfortunately it won’t be in 2021.”

Other excerpts from that Q&A included a question about whether hard modes have been added to the game: “We’ve actually talked about this! It probably won’t happen until the game is in 1.0, but It is possible that the game will get a different difficulty mode.” So there is a possibility. Sadly, the same cannot be said for adding oars, so that the Vikings can line together like good vikings: “Sorry, we discussed adding oars, but won’t do because we think “It’s too multiplayer-focused and that could lead to difficulties. Balancing boats in the future.”

Finally: Yggdrasil, the world tree that you can see from everywhere. What’s the plan there, will we ever be able to conquer that tree? “There are indeed plans for Yggdrasil, though maybe not in the way you’d expect.”
